New album When Leonard Met Dolly is out! - 04/16/2022 | THE RED OFFICIAL

That is maybe the best news of the year: new Gutsy's album When Leonard Met Dolly is out. Here is the official presentation:  When Leonard Met Dolly is the first album that Romain Gutsy recorded under his own name. It’s a journey through songs with very diversified styles and a rich sound range. While diverse, Romain’s distinguishable, endearing and charismatic voice keeps the link alive along this musical journey. From old school British folk (“Yusuf’s Question”) to Tulsa sound (“Leonard’s Gipsy Wife”) via strains of Californian hippy folk (“If I Were to Extend Myself Everywhere”), When Leonard Met Dolly is a jewel of American music revisited by a French spirit. Romain’s saturated electric guitars are used in a remarkable way throughout the album and blend perfectly with each...

New review in the French mag Rebelle(s) - 12/30/2021 | Romain Gutsy

The French Mag Rebelle(s) has published a new review of the album Whatever Says the Clock by Romain Gutsy (THE RED). It's been written by Danny-Marc, a former singer, who had her French success in the 60s, and is today a renowned poetry publisher. As the review is in French, here is what it says with an tentative translation: THE RED's debut album is certainly a great country / folk music achievement. For those unfamiliar with the English language, its title, Whatever Says the Clock, could mean "Whatever The Clock Says." It refers to the eponymous song, a declaration of love which, unlike that of Ronsard in his “Mignonne, let's see if the rose”, affirms that neither the passage of time, nor the pangs of physical decay will get the better of the love that the author has for his beloved...

Another blog review on Pretend: Nagamag - 05/17/2021 | Romain Gutsy

Nagamag published a review on the song Pretend. just a few lines, but good ones.  The review is also translated in Russian on the website. The Folk music genre has a unique feature; it can be entertaining and wherever you are, need to listen until the end. Unique, original sound and sensible melody."

Nice review of Pretend on Postcard Elba's blog - 05/11/2021 | Romain Gutsy

Postcard Elba is a music blog ran by an editor who has worked as a tour manager for rock and roll bands of varying shapes and sizes, helped run a tiny indie label, booked for various clubs, ran sound for various clubs and for one miserable year worked as a music publicist (it is an awful job and you have our sympathies, any publicists reading this). He has also played in bands since he was a wee lad, including his current reactionary project, the political punk band Beltalowda. Here is what they write about Pretend:  From France we get singer-songwriter The Red and their unique take on Americana / indie folk with “Pretend.” As the song starts all the usual roots suspects are there – banjo, acoustic guitar, strings, a road weary voice…but quickly things start to shift and move...
